There is an ESP32 demo that will light an LED when a button is pressed on the IOS app. This uses BLE and works fine when I try it. I want to be able to do something similar but using WiFi- not BLE (range is so short).
The BLE demo uses GATT characteristics which would allow you to define different actions based upon different button presses. There doesn’t appear to be anything functionally the same as this for a WiFi connection.
Is this even possible? Looking over all the demos, I don’t see any with apps that contain buttons, or labels that communicate with the embedded board, using anything except BLE.
One of the things I’ve tried:
On my embedded Tab I connect a GPIO output pin to a cloud event
On my Application tab I connect a button to a cloud event
On the cloud tab, there are now two separate cloud events, which I wire together
Everything compiles/ downloads OK, but nothing happens. Not surprising, as I wouldn’t think you’d have to connect two cloud events together like that.
Thanks for any advice.
